Tickle Me with Laughter …Albany, NY Family Photographer
Another playful family! I’ve been photographing them since before the pregnancy of the little girl! I love, love, love when i get to watch a family grow. Recently they did some work to the front of their home, and really wanted to have an “Our House” photo this year for the holiday card. Last year we shot their session just after Thanks Giving, with Christmas decorations. The fall foliage was a fresh look for them!
A flip upside down always generates a great laugh
enjoy…

Somethin’ About Pigtails… Albany, NY Family Photographer
There’s something about that combination isn’t there??? I can’t say enough good things about this family! I loved working with them, and capturing some true Lifestyle Portraits. When clients give me free reign — the possibilities are endless. Sometimes it’s hard for people to hear, just play, or interact and try to pretend I’m not here. Often I hear, “Where do I look? – Am I standing/sitting ok? “ That’s the beauty of Lifestyle portraits, you go with the flow. You look where it feels natural to look and let me worry about the rest! I tweak and provide some direction when needed, but generally it’s your family relaxing, and me running around like a nut! LOL We took these outside of their home in Albany, NY and in the beautiful yard of a nearby church. It really was a wonderful fall afternoon…enjoy.

Genuine Smiles… Albany, NY Photographer

Although they still knew they were having their picture taken – I was so happy to see them start to play, laugh and even giggle! Generally, you can catch giggle faces pretty easy with little ones – they may be aware you have a camera, but generally don’t get nervous in front of it! As kids get older, the cooperation is so much better, but sometimes it’s hard to get a genuine smile! We moved to the ground for a more casual look - and with two little ones riding horsey
the laughs began! This is my favorite group shot of them…hopefully the families will like it too! And of course don’t forget Grandma and Grandpa…after all it’s their gift!
Apples of their Eyes…Albany, NY Family Photographer
Isn’t that the perfect way to describe what grandchildren are to grandparents? I know watching my own parents, and inlaws with our kids – there’s a certain glint, and special bond between them. Not sure how you describe that with words, but anyone that has children – knows what it is!
Once heard… “Grandchildren are your reward for not killing your children…” LOL
Will try to post a few more from this grandchildren family session – you may not believe me, but it was such an easy session to shoot! Lovely family, and great gift to Grandma and Grandpa!

My Sister’s Keeper…Albany, NY Children Photographer
These two little cuties were so much fun to work with. There aren’t many relationships like that of two sisters…

Division One Lax…Here I Come — Albany, NY High School Senior Photographer
I often talk about incoporated student’s interests and hobbies into their Senior Portraits… thought I’d share these examples! As I mentioned in my last post, she’s off to play D-1 Lax in the Fall! You just don’t get to that level without a lot of hard work and dedication… another congrat’s to you A !

The Eyes are the Path to the Soul ~ Albany, NY High School Senior Photographer

That’s the first thought that came to my mind when I took at look at her pictures on my montior…something very powerful and determined in her eyes. Our session was one of the very, windy nights — and we did get that “wind in your hair” look!! She was so much fun, and I loved hearing about her college plan for next year! You’re looking at a D-1 Lax Goalie!!!!
Like many High School Seniors in the Albany, NY area – she needed to have the formal black drape and gray background for the yearbook. Took a bit of manuvering, but think we came up with something that worked! I guess I can kind of understand the simple look of everyone in the same thing…but when I think of what a Senior’s last year of High School is —- uniformed totally goes against the grain for me!

That’s such a pivital time for teens – you’re coming into your own – developing your confidence in who you are, what your style is etc. I truely believe that is something that should be embraced and celebrated!
So, for all you HS Seniors out there – or families of one
I strongly urge you to at least consider having custom photos taken. And if your yearbook committee is that “rigid” then I revert back to my favorite saying…
“LET YOUR YEARBOOK PICTURE BE A YEARBOOK PICTURE – LET YOUR SENIOR PORTRAITS BE YOU…”
There’s no reason why parents have to hang such a commercial shot up, and no reason these teens need to share those with their friends. Give me a call — I’d love to shoot your portraits, and I can guarantee you’ll feel more like yourself, love your photos, and be able to look back in 20 years and remember who you were during this time of your life!
Fall and Holiday Portrait Sessions: Albany, NY Photographer
This has got to be one of my favorite times of the year to schedule sessions! Maybe it’s the new color of the leaves now that the flowers are fading, but I love it! I also have many clients that I’ve worked with year, after year — and this is often a time that we get to reconnect as they prepare for their holiday seasons.
Most people do schedule early, but I always like to send a reminder that if you are planning on a session – DO NOT WAIT TO CALL AND BOOK! Right now October is completely filled – and I only have a handful of availability in November. Although most clients are looking for photos for gifts around the Christmas Season – I need them to be shot by the end of November. Otherwise, there just isn’t enough time to get them back in your hands.
Again, being outdoors this time of the year is amazing for portraits. The sun goes down earlier, making the lighting perfect at an earlier time. And between the warm tones of a setting sun, and the changing leaves —- it’s just breathtaking!!
Clients are booking sessions in a variety of locations in and around Albany, NY. Most think of fields, and trees or parks – which are so lovely! But don’t bypass the urban feel of the cities! The architecture mixed with autumn foliage — perfect formula for great portraits!!
Sessions begin this week – and I’ll be sure to post as much as I can! Again, get intouch if you want a Fall Photo Session!!!
