Get the Photos You Really Want…. Albany, NY High School Senior Photographer
Spring of High School Seniors and Juniors is an exciting time. The Seniors are wrapping up their last year, and preparing to head off to college in the fall. Juniors are looking forward to be in that “Senior” class! Most people can probably look back with great memories from this point in their lives. So much is happening, many transitions – and really discovering who you are. Custom Senior portraits are
a fabulous way to memorialize this stage! A handful of students from high schools in and around the Albany, NY area have participated in my Photo Rep Program for Senior Portraits. The biggest goal of these sessions is to show students and families what senior portraits really can be! Multiple locations, clothing changes, incorporation of interests, sports, hobbies – all elements that create a collection of images showcasing students at this very point in their lives. You just can not get that with 10 minutes in a studio, wearing the same thing all of your other classmates have worn!! Celebrate this time in your life, or your child’s life. You’ll be glad you did….

Get Your Game Face On
No surprise that I love photographing HS Juniors/Seniors – especially when they want to incorporate their hobbies or sport interests! She’s been playing lax for a long time – and from what I hear….
is quite good! It’s always impressive to me to see students in the many “looks” of them. Granted her hair isn’t pulled up, and she’ wearing makeup in her Lax shots – but I have a soft spot for athlete’s!!!
I personally started playing sports at the age of 7. Softball was the thing until I got into Junior High. I ended up sticking with Softball and quickly feel in love with Field Hockey. Although I found Softball easier – that’s not where my passion was. I played Field Hockey through 3 years of College. I always found myself cracking up when people would say… “You don’t look like a Field Hockey chick….” and honestly I think I looked quite different on the field than I did off! Game Face on – watch out!
It was a bit chilly this day – so you can really appreciate her willingness to fully suit up and endure the cold to get the shots we wanted!!! If you can’t quite figure it out, the photo with her eye, is through the netting of her stick. She loved it, as well as her mom when I showed it to them in camera. I was thrilled that the edginess was appreciated. By incorporated sports, or other hobbies/interests – students really walk away with a great collection of images that really celebrate who they are in their last year of High School.
Division One Lax…Here I Come — Albany, NY High School Senior Photographer
I often talk about incoporated student’s interests and hobbies into their Senior Portraits… thought I’d share these examples! As I mentioned in my last post, she’s off to play D-1 Lax in the Fall! You just don’t get to that level without a lot of hard work and dedication… another congrat’s to you A !

The Eyes are the Path to the Soul ~ Albany, NY High School Senior Photographer

That’s the first thought that came to my mind when I took at look at her pictures on my montior…something very powerful and determined in her eyes. Our session was one of the very, windy nights — and we did get that “wind in your hair” look!! She was so much fun, and I loved hearing about her college plan for next year! You’re looking at a D-1 Lax Goalie!!!!
Like many High School Seniors in the Albany, NY area – she needed to have the formal black drape and gray background for the yearbook. Took a bit of manuvering, but think we came up with something that worked! I guess I can kind of understand the simple look of everyone in the same thing…but when I think of what a Senior’s last year of High School is —- uniformed totally goes against the grain for me!

That’s such a pivital time for teens – you’re coming into your own – developing your confidence in who you are, what your style is etc. I truely believe that is something that should be embraced and celebrated!
So, for all you HS Seniors out there – or families of one
I strongly urge you to at least consider having custom photos taken. And if your yearbook committee is that “rigid” then I revert back to my favorite saying…
“LET YOUR YEARBOOK PICTURE BE A YEARBOOK PICTURE – LET YOUR SENIOR PORTRAITS BE YOU…”
There’s no reason why parents have to hang such a commercial shot up, and no reason these teens need to share those with their friends. Give me a call — I’d love to shoot your portraits, and I can guarantee you’ll feel more like yourself, love your photos, and be able to look back in 20 years and remember who you were during this time of your life!
Incredible High School Senior Portrait Session ~ Albany, NY Photographer
Incredible doesn’t really even come close to really describing how this session went! Mom, Dad and daughter show up at my home, and right away I thought, she is ADORABLE!!!! Now Mom had already told me that she was very photogenic….but ya know – us parents love our kids, and think we all know we can be a bit biased! LOL
We started with a backdrop, just to give the option for a non-outdoor look….i don’t even know if it took 3 seconds for the magic to begin in the beautiful girls eyes. Natural talent is really all I can say! She casually looks at the camera, and the smile creeps across her face – apple checkbones round out – - and then the eyes twinkle – staring right into your soul! I can’t even count how many times I said….”unreal” that day! LOL As we got to know one another — the pictures kept getting better and better. And as I told her….I tried to pull back and take some full body, and further away shots —- within seconds I’d be drawn right back in close….couldn’t help myself…those eyes!!! I could have shot them all day long!
All women would love to have long, thick lashes — and most of us are able to achieve that look, work with what we have and some good mascara – and we can get close. Hold your jaw…she had NO MASCARA ON!!!!! AGH! Insane blue eyes – dark rim – long black lashes —– ALL NATURAL!!!!
Obviously I had a great time with this family, and was honored to have worked with this beauty! As I told her parents…she belongs on photo sessions, and in front of a camera — simply beautiful!
Enjoy the images…
