Occasionally there will be a project or an idea that I have – where a casting call for a “model” is perfect! This was exactly the case a few months ago.
The idea of doing a Boudoir: How it Happens themed shoot developed after chatting with one of my clients before her session. She was so NERVOUS! And the biggest reason – she wanted her images to look great. With a shaky voice, she told me… “I just don’t look like your other clients – I’m not as thin as they are – my body doesn’t look like that – I’m not sexy that way….” Now I have to tell you… she was an adorable girl who in my eyes, had no reason to be worried!!!! Of course we chatted, and I tried my best to calm her nerves – reminding her that not every client I have allows me to post their images – and that every woman’s body and beauty is unique and deserves to be celebrated! Her session went great, and she was thrilled with her images 🙂 I knew she would be… but seeing her concern -really struck me and made me think about how many women are probably out there, wanting to do a session , to have incredible photos of themselves, but just can’t believe that their photos will look like the ones they see me post…… So what to do???? Have a casting call to showcase exactly how this all works!
The talented stylist I work with (Erica Sherman – who also works at www.jeanpaulspa.com/) and I brainstormed ideas and came up with our criteria for the type of woman we wanted to work with for this project. We were basically looking for the everyday woman – not a model, not someone too young. It was awesome to see the submissions come in, and to hear the excitement in all of these beautiful women’s messages!

After going over all the details with her – we were all excited to work with one another – and to really show women the transformation that goes on from the time their session starts – to the final edited images.
Before, during and after photos, as well as video footage made this all work! We talked about makeup, hair, lashes – posing and photoshop editing. All of the elements that go on with a Boudoir Session!
How important is using a professional stylist….. pretty important!!! It’s when it all starts! The confidence shift that occurs at this stage is unreal for most women!
Although there still may be some nerves at this point – generally it’s an exited nervousness. There’s so much to share with you about how this whole process went – check back for video clips, and more of Kerri’s photos – before and afters soon! I can’t wait to keep sharing this will all of you!
